Neck Pain Pillow

You can easily spend several dollars on a neck pain pillow; however, you may not have to. Let me further explain, I was involved in a serious boating accident that left my back broken. As a result, my entire skeletal structure was abnormal.

I was experiencing excruciating neck, shoulder, back, arm, hip, and leg pains. It was non-ending pain until I was introduced to a Japanese doctor who showed me the cure for back ailments.

One important thing he taught me was proper posture, and how to obtain that posture. One important means was a neck pain pillow. He explained that we sleep one-third of our lives, therefore, it's imperative that we sleep in the correct posture. A pillow is an important element in promoting good spinal health, which includes the neck. But the key element is using the correct pillow.

The conventional pillow that we often use, the rectangular shaped filled with feathers or a synthetic material, is not capable of supporting the neck yielding good posture. A conventional pillow supports the head but not necessarily the neck. Also, the conventional pillow may cause an individuals head and neck to bend upwards causing stress in the muscles.

A solution that supports the neck and head, is simply a neck pain pillow. This is a cylinder-shaped pillow, approximately 4-6 inches in diameter, and tends to be on the firm side rather than soft and squishy. You can find these pillows at health food stores, some department and exercise equipment stores. And you can also find this pillow right in your own home and save the added expense.

The Japanese doctor who put me on the road to back injury recovery used a neck pain pillow; however, I reengineered his design and used a simple towel. I simply take a towel, fold it length-wise, roll it to the firmness and diameter I desire. It works well, I've used this neck pillow for over twenty years. So before you go out and spend a lot of money on some miracle cure neck pillow, try out the rolled-up towel.
